Spirit Unleashed is our series focused on generosity. During this appeal, we will be asking for commitments to both Forward in Faith and Generous Life for 2021. We hope that you prayerfully consider how you can be generous to Abiding Hope in the next year.
Follow these instructions:
- Prayerfully consider how much you can give to the church’s general fund (Forward in Faith) in 2021 from your income. Then consider if there is an above and beyond gift such as asset giving or spending less on something to give to the Generous Life fund.
- Decide those 2 numbers and fill out 2 separate intent cards- one for Forward in Faith and one for Generous Life.
- Decide how you are going to give. Online and reoccurring gifts are great and immensely helpful during this time of social distancing.
All intent cards should be submitted by Commitment Weekend November 7 & 8.
Forward in Faith is our general fund that supports annual ministry initiatives through income giving.
When should I turn in my intent card?
You can either fill out the e-intent card above or mail back the paper copy anytime between now and commitment weekend November 7 & 8.
When should I make my first contribution?
This commitment is for gifts given Jan1 – Dec. 31 of 2021. However, some people choose to increase their giving now so that they don’t forget.

Generosity steps I can take:
1) Move to Tithing- 10% of income
Moving to tithing can be a big step, but it is so important! With your increased gift, we can expand our ministries to go where God is leading us.
2) Increase giving by 1-2%
A full jump to tithing may not be realistic, but taking a step forward in faith might be a great challenge for you/your family as we continue to impact the world through our generosity.
3) Sign-up for automatic recurring giving
Recurring giving helps the church plan and execute our Spend Plan with a greater sense of certainty not dependent on weather or attendance. The mission never stops!
Generous Life is above and beyond giving that challenges us to be more sacrificial and intentional in our generosity.

When should I give my gift?
Since Generous Life is above and beyond giving, some people like to give it just once. Whether you want to give just once or set up a reoccuring gift, make sure that it is going to the Generous Life 2021 fund. It can be given anytime between now and the end of 2021.

Above & Beyond Ideas
Asset Giving
Stocks and bonds or property could be used to give a gift to the church.
Sacrificial Giving
You could spend less money or give something up and use those savings to give. For example, you could give up a daily Starbucks run and use the savings to give to Generous Life.
Get Creative!
Think of ways you could get your family to raise extra money for the church! Perhaps you have some little people in your family that would like to set up a lemonade or hot chocolate stand and donate the money to Generous Life.
